[Late in the evening, after CJ's announcement to the village, Don tracks his brother down and closes the door.]

Leo. A word.

[fearless_leader]

[Leo's still not happy about the announcement. If it had just been his name called, he wouldn't have cared that much. It's just another fight. As much as he loathes the Malnosso, it gives him something to do besides the daily routines.

But no, Robert's getting dragged into it too. He knew it was inevitable. The man had been lucky, over a year and never called out. But his luck finally ran out. A part of Leo had hoped to ease the man into it, maybe taking him out on a mission. Certainly not out into a war. Despite six months of training, between Link and Leo, the man still needed plenty of work.

He glances up from writing down some notes when Don enters. He sets them side though, at his brother's words.]

What's up?

[i_speak_softly]

[Don sits on the edge of the desk, and holds up his journal, open to the Tyr-Fighter schematics CJ had shared with the villagers.]

First. You are not allowed to fly these.

[fearless_leader]

[Leo raises an eyeridge at that.]

Who said I was going to? [Though they looked easy to fly, certainly.]

I don't know, but this is me saying you're not going to. In case you feel like listening for a change.

[fearless_leader]

[He just shakes his head.]

What else?

[i_speak_softly]

[Don closes the journal and throws it in a drawer. He doesn't care who knows Leo is forbidden to pilot a jet fighter, but the next topic of conversation is private. He even translation-shields, in case certain housemates are trying to eavesdrop.]

< How is your student's training going? Honestly? >

[fearless_leader]

[Leo's silent for a few moments. He reaches into a drawer and pulls out more notes. The ones he uses to keep track of Robert's progress. Slow as it is. Flipping it open to one of the most recent days.]

< He is not battle ready. >

[Physically he's getting close, strength has improved through training. He's a bit better than a beginner, could defend himself, or others if need be. Getting better with the swords. But mentally...Outside of training the man's never been in a major fight. Especially not one where he could possibly have up to twenty soldiers or more coming at him at once.]

[That's what Don was afraid of, but as he reads Leo's notes he sees that Robert has made more progress than Don expected.]

< You'll watch out for him? >

[It sounds like a casual question, but Leo should recognize this as something that Don is really serious about.]
